Recipes Homemade Coleslaw Dressing

The crunch and tanginess of colesaw makes it a perfect summer side dish to go with grilled chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, steaks and the list goes on. Some coleslaw lovers have even been known to indulge in the “coleslaw sandwich”: a generous mound of coleslaw between two pieces of toasted bread or bun halves.

These two simple recipes for coleslaw dressings are sure to give your coleslaw all of the extra zip you’re craving.

YOGURT COLESLAW DRESSING

*3 Tbsp plain yogurt, 45 ml
*2 Tbsp sour cream, 25 ml
*1 Tbsp mayonnaise, 15 ml
*1 tsp lemon juice, 5 ml
*1/4 tsp dillweed, 1 ml

Combine all ingredients and add to your favorite coleslaw. Makes about 1/3 cup plus 1 Tbsp.

BUTTERMILK COLESLAW DRESSING

*1/2 cup buttermilk, 125 ml
*1/3 cup plain yogurt, 75 ml
*2 Tbsp vegetable oil, 30 ml
*2 tsp white vinegar, 10 ml
*1 tsp dried dillweed(or 3 Tbsp, 45 ml chopped, fresh dill), 5 ml
*1 tsp djon mustard, 5 ml
*pinch salt
*1 clove garlic, minced
*freshly ground pepper
*1/4 cup chopped, fresh parsley, 75 ml

Combine all ingredients and add to your favorite coleslaw. Makes about 1 cup of dressing.
